My ISP is stopping free email

Naming no companies, but my isp announced yesterday that they are stopping our email service in 30 days time. I can, however, pay to keep it through http://www.names.co.uk

So, do I want to do that when I can just use a gmail account? My domain/email was a catchy one, memorable.

No, do not pay for a service which could disappear fully.
There are many free email services, choose one of them.
Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, etc.

There has to be something illegal about this. It would be so down here I'd think.

Megabyte pays for a broadband service for say 20 years and has the same email addresses with the broadband service all that time. They say she can't have the email addresses anymore but she can continue paying for the broadband service.

Them saying to Megabyte that she can keep all the email addresses by paying even more seems a lot like highway robbery to me.

Thanks for the link. There's useful info there :happy

Part of the email says
"
Packages are available from as little as £2.55 (including discount) a month, and come with a free domain name and website builder. And, when you sign up, you could benefit from one of the following exclusive offers:

  • Exchange Essentials Online
    40% first year discount
  • O365 Business Essentials
    30% first year discount
"

*from* being the important word on that sentence - and that's on top of what I already pay.

I'd like to keep my domain because it's "Me".

I reckon that's a good plan. Spending a few pounds on stuff you enjoy brings good rewards. That's something I've been finding here too.

They still need to have house electricity wiring attached to their norty bits for doing that to their customers.
