Where from Mr Guess? It looks nicer than mine when it puts GPS things on the video.

Bought from here, but the price is back up to $250.00
The special I bought at was $99.00

But I did find it here still at $99 but it seems without the 8GB card.

Thanks Guess. The dashcam looks ok. but I hate swindle from the companies...

I was reading the advert at Dick Smiths Kogan isn't it? and I couldn't help noticing that so many words give the mistaken impression that it's flawless, faultless, total protection, perfect...

I wonder how it records accidents that happen at the rear of your car, or the side, or any angle outside the 140 degree field of vision of the lens? And what about at night? Swann has the same words at their site.

Would not be a problem if you drove a Google Automobile !

Juat bought another ($99) for my back window. Have been thinking a lot about that as I originally wanted to get 1 unit that has 2 cameras. As I drive home late at night , I do see a lot of stupid things on the roads. It's not uncommon to see people ignoring red lights when they think no one is watching at night. Now at least if one fails, I can still use the other as the main camera.

I've now put the Dash Cams in the cars. Went for a drive this morning which had a bit of driving into direct sun. Played it back on computer. Not bad. Set at FHD @ 30fps. Have to try HD @ 60fps to see what the difference is.

Good stuff. 60fps will show the naked lady streakers a little bit better.
That is not to be sneezed at.
120fps will put it into the porn quality. At that rate there is even a see-through mode. Does yours go that high or did you get the cheap one? O^O

At FHD 1080P @ 30fps , the 8GB card will record about an hour before overwriting the oldest file. So I discovered today !

Tomorrow I'm trying HD 720P @ 60fps to see how long I can record before overwriting the oldest file. I am recording in 10 minute blocks.
Have to pick up the 32GB cards from the PO BOX tomorrow.

... I am recording in 10 minute blocks....
Mine records in 3 minute blocks. Do a test of a ~5 minute recording (as you have it now) with a memorable action happen and turn it off at that moment.

Did it record the 5 minute session ending as expected?

If you turn off the car under 10 minutes, then the recording will stop 2 minutes after , eg, 2 minutes, turn off ignition, records for another 2 = 4 minutes.

I'm recording 720P/ 30fps
When I bought it that was the most popular/recommended rate.

Played back the HD 720P Video recorded @ 60fps. There was a fair bit of jerkiness in the video. So I've changed back to FHD 1080P @ 30fps as that plays back nice and smoothly.

It may be that the higher framerate was causing the jerkiness due to the low powered CPU or a slower-to-write ram card. 60 fps means a lot more data.

Does it have a 30 fps mode in 720P video to try?

My viewpoint is that the video only has to show the essential elements of some driving mishap. These dashcam electronics are working and living in very hot conditions and which stresses the components to a point of early failure.

High video rates are causing more heat in the electronics to process the extra data, but that's only a theoretical point to consider atm - I do wonder how many summers a dashcam would last...

Yes, heat is a worry here as it gets very hot inside a parked car in the sun. I do plan on trying HD 720P @ 30fps in a couple of days time just to compare to FHD 1080P @ 30fps.
I better put the old Kitchen on eBay so I can get rid of it. Can't put any cars in the garage at the moment as the ol kitchen has been occupying the space.
