Make the most of these deliciously sweet ribs and have them with family and friends.

Ingredients
  • 1.5kg American-style pork ribs
  • 2 teaspoons five-spice powder
  • 1-2 tablespoons rice-bran oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup plum sauce
  • 3-4 teaspoons minced chilli or sambal oelek
Instructions1. Cut ribs into individual pieces. Bring a large pot of water to the boil and add ribs. Simmer 15 min. Drain ribs, sprinkle with five-spice powder and toss to coat.

2. Heat a large non-stick wok to high heat. Add 1-2 tablespoons rice-bran oil. Add ribs in batches and stir-fry until golden. Remove ribs, add garlic and ginger and stir-fry for 1 min before returning ribs to pan with honey, soy, plum sauce and chilli.

3. Cook, stirring constantly, until sauce simmers and thickens. Remove from heat and serve immediately with rice and steamed bok choy. Garnish with coriander leaves or green/spring onions, if desired.
