Australians have been given their first glimpse at what the new National Broadbank Network might look like in their homes, and the internet is going to look a little grey.
The little grey box pictured will be the gateway for households to the fibre optic cable of the NBN when it has been connected around Australia.
Every household will receive one of these boxes whether they are connecting to the NBN by fiber optic cable, satellite or wireless technologies.
The pictures provided by the NBN Co. show the "NBN Box", which provides two phone line ports and four data ports.
The box will also come with a power supply to be plugged into a power point, and a back-up battery.
The ports will allow people to connect to the internet using their existing wireless devices, and can also allow a single household to be connected to four separate internet companies.
This means people no longer have to share an internet connection in a single household if they don't want to, and each person can receive their own individual bills.
Most people will receive an internal box, while in some special cases an outdoor box could be installed.

Four ISPs? :eek
