Unfortunately that's 100% true.
Back in Hungary every year many so called experts die because they eat the wrong ones.
The papers are full of warnings that take your mushrooms to the big fruit market, there the real experts will check your pickings free of charge.
Nooo, they don't take it there.
They cook it and than check it with a silver spoon.
Did the spoon change its colour?
No: the mushroom is safe to eat.
Yes: It's poisonous.
