How to convert PowerPoint to mpeg?

After some searching I have found software to do it by the hundreds.
Some of them free , some of them shareware.
Can you recommend some reliable ,downloadable, free software to do it?

My day has gone with trials.
From 5 downloaded program only one works ,but it converts the sound only partially.
In Powerpoint new tracks are starting automatically,in the converted version only the first track works.After that quiet.
It converts to mpeg, wmv or avi.
60 , 100, 2500 MB.
Grrr...

A tip from Friczi(from overseas):
It is possible to convert Powerpoint to Macromedia Flash(swf) with Openoffice.
Flash is much more popular than PP.
Perhaps it will be possible to convert swf to avi,wmv,etc.
I start to be more and more interested that how to solve this problem.
I'm downloading Openoffice just now.
90 MB. Grrr...
The question is that what will happen to the sound?
Would be any?

Hmmm... No sound and no slideshow...
Only one image...
Can't play it in Openoffice at all...
It saves the slideshow very efficiently. It is 5 KB from the original 5 MB.
Ok play it... Only one image...

The slideshow has been made with Powerpoint 2000.
I'll save it with Powerpoint 2003,maybe it will be accepted fully...
