Onward to the 45 degree polyurethane!
YESSS!!! :satisfied
It's not cheap but comfortable for about 10 days.

The podiatrist gave me a tube to cut the right size from it.
Hot, hot, hot! Bought one from the pharmacy for $13.
My happiness lasted about 3-4 hours...
...then ended. Something was pressing my toes...
Found only a 1cm wide ring...

The search began for the right foam and found [URL='http://www.smith-nephew.com/australia/healthcare/products/product-types/exudate-management-dressings/foam-dressings/allevyn--product-range/allevyn--non-adhesive3/']Allevyn Non Adhesive:

Unique triple action technology effectively manages fluid to create a moist wound healing environment
Highly breathable top film helps to minimise the risk of maceration to the wound and periwound
Non-adherent wound contact layer means the dressing is suitable for use on fragile and sensitive skin including epidermolysis bullosa wounds

Here's a tip or two - maybe it will work?

Freezing is one suggestion
Using a grinder is another.
Useful!!! I'll try it as soon as I buy an angle grinder or buying a little accessory to my driller.

Look at the earlier attached pic:
Freezing it with full of water then cut it with a sharp knife.
The result is poor...(should try it in a cool room perhaps? Siberia is another option...)

I visited another doctor a few weeks ago.
In his opinion taking off the nail would not help in my case.
Taking off the toe would but he didn't recommend it.:eek

Did he offer a reason why, misi?
No, he did not.
Perhaps the muscles are already damaged in my toes?
That's what I think.

ATM my toes are behaving pretty good, I can wear shoes for hours without strong pain.
I'm wearing my "rings" and using a cream(not designed for my toes).
What's the cream for?
I noticed that my feet are behaving much better after a shower.
The water makes the hard skin softer.
What about making the skin softer for a longer period?
The cream does that.

My hotwire failed to deliver good result, giving up.
Thinking about another solution, it might work.
Ordered a clutch for my fast driller because it went on strike.
I'll try to buy a little saw for it and try to cut the foam with it.
I'm not in a hurry with it because the scissors, knife, freezer do the job until I find another solution.

That's good that they help, plus with the cream.

One other thing that a shower does is make the capillaries/blood vessels
expand, as well as the muscles relax from the warm water.

You could get a simple square bowl and use warm water at home to try it,
and there are the foot spa around - like my Mum has - which add bubbles and
massage and heating I think.

It's curious that he didn't say why. Maybe the shape of your foot is part of the problem?
If it rubs in spots inside shoes due to an odd shape then that could be a major cause.
I'm no doctor - just a layman.

Same effect. Makes it softer for a little while.
Cream works longer.

nod. I have calloused heels and forgot to apply heel balm (by Eulactol) to them and one cracked in a few places last week. Stoopid me. Fortunately it hasn't become infected and I'm applying the heel balm as I should have been doing - I mention that to ask what cream that you find is good for your feet?

I had sorbelene cream and used that but the heel balm stays on with a film on the skin and has a better effect - the sorbelene had very little effect over several days for me.
