Maybe if you uploaded a zip/tgz and extracted it on the server to a different folder it would work...

No hope for that on Yahoo.
I could download from there only that way,their full backup.
Any problem? Upload it and they would extract it.
I cannot extract my own compressed files without SSH.

I could do it only if their backup system worked.
It does not work for a long time. Complaining about it, did not help.
Asking them to upgrade MYSQL: The answer was NO.
Complaining about backing up and download a single database without errors:fruitless.
That's why we are with Hostgator now.
