If you don't already, then use adblock+ in Firefox to remove ads. Works like a charm.

Thanks Foxi, I already use Adblock Plus, but the other naughty one cleaned up something else which I can't remember that was annoying me. 
I still use FF Greasemonkey scripts as well to remove ads from Google searches, personal pages and custom search engines as well as offsite Google ads.

Ok. Adblock removes ads from google searches too, there's the 'other or benign' advert setting you can disable too, if you didn't read about it.
I have scriptish but only use it for Whirlpool.
