ATM:
Scanning and repairing drive (C:happy: 10%complete.
It took 2 hours to get there.

I wanted to make a system image earlier and it failed.
I have no idea what's going on since that partition has been extended.

I make this post from my phone.

Do I have Windows 10?
I hope not.
I am using W10 now, it's seems very solid, just like 8.1 with a altered menu system which is just as good too.

I recommend the move up now, I admit I didn't with the earlier release.

I also did a HDD copy beforehand so if I didn't like it I only had to swap drives to go back. The windows "go back" feature is a bit of a dud, i.e. not complete. MOO

That's what I intended to do...
Copy failed half way through.

I guess it was because:
PS: Some rubbish is popping up that I have 387MB of files to remove.
I guess it's from EaseUS.
CHKDSK failed to repair the drive, stuck on 12% for about 2 hours.
Lost the ability to start my programs such as Visual Studio, Excel, etc.

I installed W10 now.
No major programs there.
Currently scanning the PC for viruses.

I'll see tomorrow afternoon what can I do with W10.

Control Panel/Turn Windows features on or off/Internet Explorer 11. is box ticked ?
Yes, it is, it's working.

Lost almost all my programs.
Have to install them again.
I think the data for them is not lost.

I DO NOT BLAME W10 for this bloody mess, shouldn't install that EaseUS rubbish from
I don't know where!!!

Weird. I've been using EaseUs for years, way back.... umm... a long time ago. I've never had a problem with it.

I used that or Paragon PM, whichever was current and free. Never had a problem. I'm sorry to hear that you have.

A total HDD copy/clone never goes astray, especially when stuffing with partitions.

Available 1.9GB
Clearing out 11GB the free space should be 12.9 GB
For some odd reason it became only 4.4GB
When you delete files in Windows they go into the hidden folder which is the recycle bin. They stay on the hard drive until you empty the recycle bin. Each drive has it's own hidden folder and Windows manages them all into the thing it terms the Recycle Bin.

Try emptying it again

I only just saw this page

Windows breaks in big ways if there is not enough space to write its needed temporary files in the system temp folder.

Starting to install my programs.
They occupy 100GB of space on C: instead of the 200GB earlier.

I wasn't all that clear with my comment - but if the drive had 4.4GB free then an OS install doesn't have enough drive space to function properly - in theory anyway.

Did you ever empty the recycle bin on a regular basis misi?
I'm just asking to be clear - as Windows only recovers the free space when the recycle bin is cleared.

You may be perfectly aware of that, but I'm just saying.

I wanted to extend C: because wanted to defragment it.
Could not do it because there was only 1.9GB empty space, the optimizer needed more.
Uninstalled some programs 11GB, I did not need anymore to free up some space.
Space available became only 4GB.
I did not want to install the new OS that time.

Yeah, that's what you said. I was asking if you emptied the recycle bin to make windows return the free space to your hard drive.

No, I did not.
I THOUGHT that there was no reason to do that.
I thought that when you uninstall a program the program's files are going to be deleted without going to the recycle bin.
