Email forwarding service

As I am about to cancel my Internode account, my old email addresses will die with it...

I'm contemplating using a mail forwarding service rather than using my actual Bigpond email addresses.

Years ago, Fairfax journo, Charles Wright used to recommend Fastmail (fastmail.fm) but IIRC, he stopped recommending them. I see they have a premium package that also includes webhosting, which I don't get with Bigpuddle. I'm not sure what I would put on a website, but it would be nice to have the ability to do so should I so desire.

Does anyone here have any experience with mail forwarding services?

I do not have experience with mail forwarding services but my mails are forwarded to me from my yahoo and private addresses to one address.
So far it's working reliably for about 10 years.
Checking them through my iPhone.

Thanks, misi. I have some concerns about Yahoo, Gmail, MSN etc... frankly, I don't trust them..

Than unfortunately you have to pay for some more reliable services such as Fastmail.
How long can you trust them?

You may buy your domain name, buy some webspace from a smaller webhost and do your emailing through it.

I'll pay if it means getting what I want.

Buying my own domain name etc sounds promising, but I need to get it set up by this weekend..

There are no guaranties for that.

Then go ahead and buy the domain name from one company and the webspace from another company.(Don't buy a package)

Your host should have cPanel.
Later on you can download and install Filezilla.(Not a necessity on the beginning,cPanel can handle basic needs.)

If you really want to do it then don't waste your time because DNS server propagation could take days.

ummm how can you still have you're old node addys?

And your email server, that sounds very interesting.. the only problem is, I can't think of a good domain name..

I can't use Biggles and emu is probably taken...
