Dead battery

Yesterday something started to beep regularly in our home.
What's that?
Smoke alarm? Changed the battery.
The heater's sensor? Changed the battery.
Still beeping something...
All night...and today till I came home from work.
Because I knew the intervals between the beeps it was relatively easy to spot the problem.
It came from the NBN box.
Rang up Telstra to fix the problem.
Sorry we cannot help, your battery's warranty expired, you have to buy a new one...

Rang up one of the retailers recommended by Telstra: it would cost $79 from them delivered and installed.
Meh...
I think that I'll rather search for a cheaper one or try to use the unit without the battery backup.

Found something interesting about this: http://www.smh.com.au/technology/te...espan-angering-consumers-20151021-gken1y.html

It says that thing on the left is the UPS.

When replacing UPS batteries you can also buy 'old stock' from the battery maker, which I've done a few times. It's $10 as opposed to $50+ and isn't likely to last as long.

It seems a lot like NBN bought shipping containers of batteries from 'old stock' :lmao:

Need one of these. :cool
2 KV ???
misi doesn't want it!

disaster all around.
Bloody headache!
Disconnecting all devices which COULD make a sound...
That beep was terrible as long as we didn't know what it was.

Currently it is off from the box.
Internet and the phone is working without it.

Jaycar is selling one for $35 with Voltage-Amps very similar to this one.
(About 1 Km from my place)

Bought the battery from Jaycar for $34.99
Delivery and installation:$0.00 and the loss of one finger nail (It's already growing back).
