Insects in rice

Friend of mine have a problem with some expensive rice.
Basmati,Jasmin, imported from overseas,after a while will have insects in the bag.
No insects on the beginning...

Does the bag have some special gas to prevent the eggs from hatching(becoming insects)?
What to do if the bag is too large to consume quickly the whole lot?

Put the bag into the fridge? For how long?
Microwave?
Oven?

I myself don't like them because of their smell
