Yep,

My 5 Gig 8000 TR plan is now no longer sufficient for my needs.

Mr A. is now using all my previously unused quota and I now have a excess bill to pay each month..

Now it's time to search for a new plan and I'm guessing I will need a minimum of 10 Gig per month, but 15 will be better if I am to stop all restrictions I have put on Mr A's usage..

Any ideas ?

Been a long time since I last looked at ISPs.. At least I am now on holidays and should get a bit of time to look in between all the projects I have lined up for the next 5 weeks...

ps... maybe I should just go back to work instead... :wink2:

TPG has good quota, lousy service and slow speeds. If your plagued with dropouts then they put you on a stability profile.

Your choice. :happy

FWIW mine is stable and I manage to churn through a lot a month, downloading Linux ISO images. :thumbs_up

You're welcome to some of my quota. I downgraded from 25GB to 10GB last year but I'm only using an average of 1.0GB per month. If I could find a significantly, at least $15.00 per month plan that would give me say, 2GB and still keep my 1500 speed, I'd change.

I will be looking at 1500 speed plans... 8000 are way too dear for me.. Currently paying $41.15 (5,120MB) + excess per month..

Looking at WinShop 1500 speed for $49.95 (15,000MB) unbundled.... I bought my modem from them when I joined aaNet in July 2004.. !

Anything better around ?

Welcome

We are committed to ensuring that our clients promptly receive answers to their questions and enjoy trouble-free use of the Internet.
We are based in Nerang on the Gold Coast and offer dialup and business ADSL/ADSL2+ services Australia Wide (Home ADSL/ADSL2+ services in QLD). ADSL2+ Services are only availabe at selected Gold Coast exchanges at this time.
Internet Service Provision (ISP) and Web/Email hosting has been the core of the business since 1995, while technology has changed a great deal since then it's still our main focus. Before that some of our senior staff were involved in BBS (Bulletin Board Systems) which really advanced our skillset with modems, email/fidonet, routers, networking and computers.
We encourage our clients to visit our office and build a relationship with our staff. We do not operate from overseas call centres and avoid using complex phone support systems where you have to press a number or speak your problem to a computer.
Our support staff have field experience and are not trying to apply only stale solutions from a support database. This is important so that you get the best solution for your situation as our staff are able to adapt to your individual requirements.

For a $10 saving you will have the enjoyment of fixing things:
Try hard coding the DNS Servers into your network settings:

Primary DNS: 203.22.127.10
Secondary DNS: 203.22.127.105

I have sometimes seen a router playing silly buggers when "relaying" the dns. I can't even knock this down to one brand, seen it happen on everything but a Cisco, but we don't deploy many Cisco routers.

Rebooting the router fixes it until next time which who knows when it will happen again and/or a more permanent fix is typing them into the computer.

Doesn't sound like a mail issue or web server issue our monitoring software is showing they are fine. I've also been using them most of the weekend.

You can test it out by trying to ping 203.22.127.23 and then for instance mail.winshop.com.au I'd love to know the actual cause which is unknown.

We seem to have a solution and it happens to a "handful" of customers at "random" times. So far every customer that is going direct to the dns instead of computer --> Router DNS Relay --> DNS Server seems to fix up immediately.

That post is 2 years old misi..

I do like the person to person support and WinShop is close to me if I want to see them.. It was very handy having aaNet of old being close..

I like Internode.. Had absolutely no problems when I was with them for 6 months.. I just don't want to go over $50 per month.. The boss will kill me ! LOL

Exetel... I still can't trust them knowing from past history the way things have gone ( from an insiders view ) ( and for support, I like to talk to someone )

I have read everything I can find on WP to do with WinShop. When I bought my modem from them, they were very prompt and thorough and made me feel welcome.. I have not forgotton.. Customer service means a lot to me..

If only ADSL2+ was available at my exchange, then things would be very different..
