THE Whitsunday Council has ordered a police-enacted evacuation of designated low-lying areas ahead of Cyclone Debbie making landfall.

Residents living in the red and orange zones have been directed to evacuate their property and people living in the “yellow” zone have been advised to voluntarily evacuate.

It is quite a bit north of us at Brisbane but my daughter who lives at Proserpine and it's heading in her general direction. The school where she teaches at Proserpine State has been closed.
Just have to keep our fingers crossed at this stage as cyclones can be unpredictable at times.

My wife's sister from Airlie Beach is here with us. Was to fly out to Proserpine yesterday, but now stuck here till (probably) Friday. I recon it will hit Prossy/ Hamilton Is./ Conway Beach area.
I was up there for Ului.

Did I miss out on all the fun.... Just returned from New Zealand .. Donna says we had bad weather on Thursday night. lots of trees blown down in the southern Redlands area and no power for up to 12 hours.
