Car's indicator won't work

Last weekend the right hand indicator on my car started playing up. Instead of emitting a steady, tick-toc, tick-toc sound, it sounded like tick-tick-tick-tick. The right rear indicator wasn't working. Both the front and side indicators were fine as were all three of those on the left hand side.

I tried the hazard lights as an experiment, just to see if I could get the rear indicator to work at all and it did.

I then tried the right hand indicator and it worked too.

Everything was fine until this afternoon when the original problem returned only this time, using the hazard lights didn't fix it.

I'm hoping its just the globe, but I can't for the life of me work out how to remove the glove. It looks like the lens needs to be removed but when I tried to do that, I could only get it part of the way and I didn't want to force it. I've downloaded the service manual and nowhere in its 2000 + pages can I find how to replace a globe.

Can any LG's help me?

What model car is it, biggles?
Some cars such as my old Magna, you get to globe from inside boot.....all depends on make of car.
Maybe just a loose fitting/wiring if the globe still works.

Any small pin there? With my car I can force out the pin and replace the globe but usually cannot put back the pin.(New pin=$)

Usually when the flasher unit clicks at a higher rate it means one of the lamps is out, or the socket/lamp has corroded or a poor connection, or in a few cases the flasher unit itself, but usually the former.

Sorry for the lack of information in my OP. Its my BA Fairmont sedan. I've just come from having another go at and after reading the owner's manual, I worked out that the lens does indeed come off to change bulbs. I just needed to apply very light pressure with a screw driver to the front bit, something which I wasn't prepared to do earlier in the week. I swapped the globe from the left hand indicator to the right hand side and the right hand indicator works fine but the left hand indicator now just tick-tick-tick. The front and side lights on the left work, but the rear, (with the bulb from the RHS) doesn't. I'm hoping that this means that a new globe is all that is required to fix this problem.

The globe is an amber coloured one because the lenses are clear. I'll call in at Autobarn on my way home from the range tomorrow and buy a new one.

Thanks for your help, guys.

Cheers,

b.

OK... Seems you worked it out biggles.... It is the globe that is the problem... The faster tic tic tic sound you heard is a audible warning that you have a defective bulb...The flasher relay is designed to do the tic tic tic sound only when the offending bulb is in use but not lighting up ..

Firstly, sorry I started this thread in the wrong place. :eek I didn't realise we had a car forum.

A mate of mine gave me a globe while we were at a working bee today, he's a courier and always carrys a few spares. I installed immediately and all is well. :happy

Thanks for you help.

Now, if only Ford would make changing headlight globes this easy..:?
